So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. [Colossians 1.9-10]
For my adult children, here is an adaptation of the passage above:
So I have not stopped praying for you since I first heard about you (specifically when Mom said, "I'm late..." 😀). I ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
I am not ashamed to say that I have prayed for you your entire life and that I continue to pray for you today. I admit in younger years I struggled with my commitment to do so, but assure you in these last many years I have not missed a single day of lifting you to the Lord in prayer for His love and help.
If this means anything to you, I hope it inspires you to pray for your dear children in the same way and even more fervently. I have now lived long enough to know I can't fix all your problems. In fact, I have fixed very few of your problems. But I have seen the work of God in your lives and for that I am grateful to Him.
I love you and will never stop.
Love, Dad.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift His countenance (His gaze) upon you and give you peace!
