That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.” [Acts 23.11]
It seems to me that Paul, if he had been fully listening to the Holy Spirit as on at least three different occasions others confirmed, would have ultimately gone to Rome. Could this have prevented some of Paul's difficulties - had he at least paused when he was warned by those who told him trouble awaited him in Jerusalem?
The work of the Holy Spirit in Paul's journey to Rome via Jerusalem was obvious. However, the Holy Spirit seemed to me to be indicating that Jerusalem should have been avoided - mind you, it was Paul who was determined to go to Jerusalem.
Could it be that sometimes God intentionally does not reveal His full plan directly to us so that we might depend on others in the Body of Christ?
Father, give us the grace to listen to Your Holy Spirit. Give us the grace to allow You to speak to us through others to whom You speak!
