Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief. [Revelation 3.3]
As I continue to "listen what the Spirit is saying and try to understand" I realized something of God's grace today: Jesus said, "Repent and turn to me again." How encouraging is that? There is grace when we wander into disobedience. However, there is a limit to God's patience with us. Jesus will come suddenly and as unexpected as a thief. This should instill hope in us, but also a sense of urgency.
I believe every person who claims faith in Christ should become very well acquainted with what Jesus said to these seven churches in the book of Revelation. I believe there is something in each of the seven churches that relates to each of us and thus requires appropriate action.
Father, as instructed in Jesus' words to the church in Sardis, may I be found repentant. May my repentance be my "waking up."
