Knowing God

He will flatter and win over those who have violated the covenant. But the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him. [Daniel 11.32]

I am pulling this verse out of its context because what it says is true in or out of context!

The back story is that the 'king of the north' is doing bad things to the 'people of the holy covenant.' And this is where the Word says: But the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him.

Man, that phrase is powerful! Who will resist the attack? The people who know their God!

This statement is eternally true: But the people who know their God will be strong...

Do we know God? The answer is found in our lives... Do they look like God? More specifically, do our lives look like Jesus? Are we acting like the One we claim to know? Can others determine Who we know by how we act?

I really did not see this conviction coming today when I started reading this portion of scripture. But there it is... Am I strong? Am I resisting the enemy? Or, am I being persuaded to violate the faith I am supposedly a party to?

If I know God, I know all that He is - and certainly all He specifically says He is. If He said, "I am your Healer" (which He did), am I violating that covenant of Healing by diluting it (or forsaking it altogether) by trusting in Medicine?

It all comes down to knowing God.

Father, forgive me for acting like I know You but having little or no activity in my life to prove it.
