I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign LORD. Turn back and live! [Ezekiel 18.32]
It's just that simple: God wants us to live.
But wait! There's more!
God wants us to turn back so that we might live.
What does turn back mean? It means to repent.
Jesus Himself declared the necessity of repentance. His blood completely washes us clean from sin, relieving us of the responsibility of sacrificing the blood of bulls, sheep and goats. However, the blood of Jesus does not relieve us of the responsibility to repent.
There is a misnomer among Christians today that "Jesus paid it all" means that we are not only free from sin, but also free from repentance. That is simply not the case.
God wants us to live - but we must turn back in order to do so.
Father, may I be found repentant always.
