God Will Not Share His Glory!

“I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols. [Isaiah 42.8]

Yahweh, the God of the Universe, Alpha and Omega - beginning and the end - will not give or share His glory with anyone else.

So, why would we be so careless as to risk giving glory that belongs to Him to anyone or anything else?

What glory belongs to Yahweh our God?

To understand what glory belongs to God, we should start with the list of characteristics God has claimed as His own in His Word: He is our Righteousness, our Sanctifier, our Peace, He is there, our Healer, our Provider, our Shepherd, and our Banner. God is our Forgiver, our Advocate, our Refuge and our Strength. He is our Defender, Protector, our Fortress and our Shield.

It is in this list of things (and more) that God will NOT share His glory with any other.

Is it safe then, to give credit to Xanax when Yahweh God says He is our Peace?

Is it safe then, to marvel at modern medicine when Yahweh God says He is our Healer?

Is it safer then, to feel security in a large bank account or great assets when Yahweh God says He is our Provider?

Here's a good one... Is it safe then for me to forgive myself when Yahweh God says He is my Forgiver?

Is it safe then, for me to take comfort in any government when Yahweh God says He is my Refuge?

The answer to all these questions is one and the same: It is NOT safe to give any credit (glory) to any of these things for providing any benefit Almighty God said He provides! Why? Because God WILL NOT SHARE HIS GLORY WITH ANY OTHER!

But, God uses doctors and medicine and money and technology and... Right? Are comfortable going there? Can you really be at ease giving a "shout out" to anything that God said is His business?

Sure, you work hard for your money! But Who gives you life and strength to work?

Yes, I am suggesting that we have profusely adulterated ourselves to other gods (idols) by giving any credit whatsoever to anything that provides benefits God said He would provide.

There is only one solution: repentance. Regardless how unconventional, ignorant, or downright foolish it may seem in the world's eyes, those who would be found 'true worshipers of God' must make determinate distinction to Whom the glory and praise belong! God will not share His glory!

Father forgive me to given glory that belongs to You and You alone, to anyone or anything else. I am guilty of idol worship and I ask that You forgive me.
