Ripe Fruit

Then the Sovereign LORD showed me another vision. In it I saw a basket filled with ripe fruit. “What do you see, Amos?” he asked. I replied, “A basket full of ripe fruit.” Then the LORD said, “Like this fruit, Israel is ripe for punishment! I will not delay their punishment again. [Amos 8.1-2]

What fruit do we see in the earth today? Is it ripe?

The fruit is the produce of the land - it is what the land brings forth. 

Again, what fruit do we see in the earth at this time? What fruit do we see in our nation? What fruit do we see in our cities? What fruit do we see in our homes?

The analogy God used with Amos was that the fruit was ripe for punishment.

Is the fruit of our nation ripe for punishment? Well, that depends. What is the fruit of our nation? Is it righteousness and peace or is it unrighteousness and turmoil? 

The fruit I see in my nation, according to the Bible, is indeed ripe for punishment.

Father, I see 'fruit' in my nation that is ripe for punishment. Like Amos, hear my request for forgiveness for my country - our people and our leaders. Revive us O Lord. Save us.
