Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. [Proverbs 18.2]
Opinions are dangerous.
This blog is dangerous. For that matter, any person's opinions are dangerous. In fact, if we are drawing what we know about the Lord, faith, the Kingdom of God and salvation from the opinions of man and not from the Word of God, we are in dangerous territory.
There are a few people who read this blog every day. I don't know if it is the same people every day or if I just happen to have the approximate same number of random visitors daily - again I just don't know. If I could just speak candidly to my readers for a moment, I would say I am glad you follow what I have to say here. However, if your regularity reading this blog in any way exceeds your regularity in reading God's Word and seeking His opinions, then you are in trouble!
If you learn anything from this blog - learn to respond to God for yourself as you read the Word of God daily. This blog is an example of doing that and nothing else. Sure, there may be nuggets of truth and possibly even wisdom occasionally, but the lesson from this blog is that the Word of God engages us when we engage it. There is growth to be experienced when we take our devotion to a daily level. Reading and writing a response to God is a method of personal accountability. For me, it has been a stabilizing factor. It has caused me to experience God like never before. It has been the perfect compliment to my prayer life.
I think probably I could write a book... but then, that would only be for my own financial gain... People don't need my opinions - they need God's Word.
Father, help me to realize the danger of opinions. Help me to see that opinions and fools are often inseparable. Help me to encourage readers of the need to read for themselves and find understanding in that intimate place and time with You.
