Murder

This will ensure that the land where you live will not be polluted, for murder pollutes the land. And no sacrifice except the execution of the murderer can purify the land from murder. [Numbers 35.33]

Numbers 35.9-34 is proof-positive that God clearly distinguishes between accidental death and murder.

Circumstances do happen in which people die. It is unfortunate, however, most accidents are avoidable. For this reason, God instituted protection for the person who accidentally caused the death of another, but the conditions were such that they might persuade a person to exercise caution to try to avoid them.

On the other hand, God does not give tolerance for murder. He demands fairness, but makes it crystal clear that murder is not to be tolerated.

When a society becomes Godless, is it any wonder that these very issues of accidental death and murder become s convoluted? For example, it seems that murder is treated with little or no more justice than negligence. In fact, in the USA and abroad, one suffers more for hurting a child negligently than do the assassins who murder them for hire through abortion.

With the numbers of un-punished murders through abortion reaching unthinkable figures, is it any wonder that societies that embrace abortion would suffer from all manner of spiritual "pollution"?

Father, forgive us for our tolerance of sin. And today, particularly forgive us for allowing assassins of innocent children (and their accomplices) to go unpunished.
