You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. [Genesis 50.20]
Joseph demonstrated a Kingdom principle here. Beyond forgiveness, Joseph revealed how God takes things meant for evil and turns them to good. However, forgiveness is first necessary.
As an exercise, we should practice forgiveness so we can see God's intended good in spite of bad circumstances.
How appropriate might this be right now in American history as Christians realize and experience the bad anti-God, anti-Christian, anti-Bible situations that godless people are now promoting!
Joseph realized he was in his position to save the lives of many people. We must realize that we are in this position to save the lives of many people!
Why? Because God loves the world and wants everyone to be saved.
From the beginning of time as we know it to the present, God's will has never changed. Kingdoms and nations have changed, but God remains the same - He is good and His faithful love endures forever.
God "so loved the world" before the United States became a nation, and God will love the world if/after the USA ceases to exist. The fact is, God loves the world.
So, God's people can be sure that His plans are not thwarted by the sins of the USA. God's will for His people remains intact. He has inducted each and every believer into the ranks of ambassadorship for His Kingdom. Our purpose therefore remains as firm and unchanged as does our Master's because His plan and our role are one and the same:
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [John 3.16]
God wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth (see 1 Timothy 2.4).
How do we do that? It starts with forgiveness.
Father, help believers everywhere to understand and do our job in the earth.
