Canaan

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the Lord, who had appeared to him. [Genesis 12.7]

This land? What land? Canaan.

Canaan was the land of Ham's descendants, the Canaanites.

Ham was cursed by God because of his perverted act of looking upon his father Noah's nakedness.

Sodom and Gomorrah were cities in the land of Canaan known for their perversion and wickedness.

Abram refused to accept anything from the king of Sodom after Abram had defeated Sodom's enemy to rescue his nephew Lot. According to God's promise, all the land of Canaan belonged to Abram anyway!

Hmm.

Father, help me to see the progression of Ham's sin and how it played into Your blessing of Your chosen people (people of faith). Help me to see how this same principle applies today.
