Simple

Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. [Acts 2.37-38]

The message is simple: Repent and believe.

Jesus said it like this:

It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ [Luke 24.47]

The nice thing is, all the authority of heaven is behind this message of repentance and forgiveness.

How much training does a person need to declare this message? Training is not really the problem, is it?

Genuine repentance will result in genuine forgiveness. Genuine forgiveness received will result in genuine forgiveness given.

When we are genuinely forgiven (because we have effectively repented), there will be no problem genuinely forgiving. And, when we genuinely forgive, Jesus said:

If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” [John 20.23]

Remember the "authority" mentioned above? Here you see it in this statement by Jesus.

Salvation is simple! However, it is not without genuine repentance and forgiveness.

Father, help me to see that my only real hurdles in life are repentance (so I might receive forgiveness) and forgiveness (to forgive others).
