One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. “Cornelius!” the angel said. [Acts 10.3]
This was Cornelius' experience.
Peter had a similar one:
The next day as Cornelius’s messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon, and he was hungry. But while a meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. [Acts 10.9-10]
Visions, trances and the likes can, for the person genuinely seeking God, be the work and direction of God. So was the case for both Cornelius and Peter.
Like Peter, we would all do well to "wonder" what these unusual circumstances mean and remain open to further revelation.
The reason became obvious to Peter as he recognized what was happening with Cornelius reaching out to him. This is a good lesson for us all!
God makes His will known. Circumstances often bring confirmation of His will.
Father, help us to be so in tune with You that the unusual things in our lives, (dreams, visions, etc) find explanation in circumstances that follow. May we be found perfectly in step with You!
