Humility and Repentance

And you have brought this upon yourselves by rebelling against the LORD your God, even though he was leading you on the way! [Jeremiah 2.17]

Oh my... Could God be saying these same words to the USA today? Could He be saying it to other nations of the world? Could He be saying it to the Church? Could He be saying it to me?

No one wishes to take responsibility for bad things that happen. Ironically, everyone wants to blame someone else though when things go badly.

There are two things that were said of wicked king Manasseh in the end:

The rest of the events of Manasseh’s reign, his prayer to God, and the words the seers spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, are recorded in The Book of the Kings of Israel. Manasseh’s prayer, the account of the way God answered him, and an account of all his sins and unfaithfulness are recorded in The Record of the Seers. It includes a list of the locations where he built pagan shrines and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself and repented. [2 Chronicles 33.18-19]

Until we humble ourselves and repent, there will be no forgiveness.

Make no mistake about it, Jesus did nothing for the proud and un-repentant! So, don't go shouting "New Testament" and "Grace" until you understand that Grace is only for the humble and repentant.

When will we get it?

Father, I feel like this subject of humility and repentance just continues to repeat itself in my daily reading and prayer. I can only deduce that Your Spirit is calling me to humility and repentance. I can only conclude that I am to declare humility and repentance!
