Repent

Then Samuel said to all the people of Israel, “If you want to return to the LORD with all your hearts, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Turn your hearts to the LORD and obey him alone; then he will rescue you from the Philistines.” [1 Samuel 7.3]

Let me put this in my own modernized version:

If you want to return to the LORD with all your hearts, get rid of everything that takes the place of, or distracts you from, Him. Turn your hearts to the LORD and obey Him alone; then He will rescue you from COVID-19.

Father, I know we are highly unfaithful and distracted from You. Forgive me for my part in that and forgive us as Your people for our part in that. Forgive us as Americans for making ourselves vulnerable to the world and its diseases by our being so much like the world. Forgive the Church for allowing ourselves to look no different than the world.
