Lifestyle of Repentance

You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. [Psalm 51.16-17]

This passage of scripture from the Psalms so shows us Jesus!

Because of Jesus, God no longer requires sacrifices (Jesus paid it all).

However, God  still very much desires something of us: a broken and repentant heart.

Is it any wonder then, after His temptation in the wilderness, that Jesus began His ministry with the following words?

From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” [Matthew 4.17]

There is just no room for pride in a true follower of Jesus Christ. Ever.

We need a lifestyle of repentance.

Father, forgive me for the pride and arrogance that has prevented me from living in Your presence and in the fullness of Your blessings!
