God's Word Stands Firm

Your eternal word, O LORD, stands firm in heaven. [Psalm 119.89 NLT]

Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. [Psalm 119.89 NKJV]

Where does one even start with this?

God's Word is the Final Authority.

One preacher I used to know often said, "The dogs may bark, but the train rolls on!" And, that is so true. If the dogs are those who do not believe and even attack the Bible, the Word of God just continues to be true and accurate. There is simply no other explanation for the fulfilled prophecies of the Bible.

No writings so accurately describe the proud but fallen state of mankind as the Bible.

No book so firmly challenges man to be something he cannot be on his own.

And yet, the Bible shows us the Way - His name is Jesus - in which we must walk. The Way is impossible by human standards, but we are told it is our duty to be like Jesus. It is no surprise that the "Way" - Jesus - was called the Word of God. The Word of God is impossible apart from the help of
God - and that is what all of Psalm 119 is about.

When Jesus turned the water into wine, it was the Word of God in action. That wine was good because God's Word stands firm!

When Jesus healed the lame and sick, it was the Word of God in action. The afflicted were made whole because God's Word stands firm!

When Jesus fed the thousands, it was the Word of God in action. The hungry left full because God's Word stands firm!

When Jesus commanded the storm to cease, it was the Word of God in action. The deadly seas were made calm because God's Word stands firm!

When Jesus walked on the water, it was the Word of God in action. The water was as solid as rock under His feet because God's Word stands firm!

When Jesus submitted to the cross, it was the Word of God in action. The grave was unable to hold Him though because God's Word stands firm!

Let me say this... just because people (even intelligent people) say, "God doesn't do miracles today..." does not change everything I have just stated above. God NEVER intended for His Word to be action-less on earth! He went so far as to commission the Holy Spirit to help us make it happen.

God's eternal Word stands firm in heaven so we might actively "be Jesus" in the world today.

How it is in heaven is our responsibility to convert the circumstances before us on earth. As Jesus' ambassadors - representatives - copy-cats, we are to BE the Word of God in action! It's not about being the "best me I can be" - it's about me being "nothing" and God's Word being EVERYTHING!

God's Word is eternal and stands firm in heaven! God's Word is settled! My job is simply, humbly and obediently to say "Lord, may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven..." and then BE THE WORD OF GOD (which stands firm in heaven) IN ACTION!

Father, I knew if I wrote down the scripture above and then started to write, that You would take it from there... because Your Word stands firm in heaven.
