God's Will In Heaven (And Earth)

“Never sacrifice sick or defective cattle, sheep, or goats to the LORD your God, for he detests such gifts. [Deuteronomy 17.1]

Why would God detest sick or defective sacrifices? Because they are tainted with the effects of sin.

Physical sickness and defects are the result of sin and are therefore associated with sin, and are therefore unacceptable by God.

This also applied to a high priest who would enter the Most Holy place in the Tabernacle or Temple.

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Give the following instructions to Aaron: In all future generations, none of your descendants who has any defect will qualify to offer food to his God. No one who has a defect qualifies, whether he is blind, lame, disfigured, deformed, or has a broken foot or arm, or is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or has a defective eye, or skin sores or scabs, or damaged testicles. No descendant of Aaron who has a defect may approach the altar to present special gifts to the LORD. Since he has a defect, he may not approach the altar to offer food to his God. However, he may eat from the food offered to God, including the holy offerings and the most holy offerings. Yet because of his physical defect, he may not enter the room behind the inner curtain or approach the altar, for this would defile my holy places. I am the LORD who makes them holy.” [Leviticus 21.16-23]

With this in mind, why would we ever conclude that God makes any person lame or sick or blind for His pleasure? Such an assumption is ridiculous!

By these scriptures, we can learn that God's will for man is for there to neither be sin in his life nor the effects of sin on his life. God rejects the effects of sin as much as He rejects the sin. God wants no part of sin.

There is certainly no sin in heaven and we can be certain there are no effects of sin in heaven. And, if we know God's will for heaven, we can be confident of God's will on earth:

May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. [Matthew 6.10]

Because the Church has allowed and embraced so many false teachings about the subject of physical infirmity, people are largely ignorant and confused about the subject. Consequently, because people are ignorant and confused about physical infirmity, they are also ignorant and confused about the sin that causes physical infirmity. Their ignorance and confusion about the sin that causes physical infirmity blinds them and therefore prevents their repentance for that sin and so, both the sin and the physical infirmity resultant to that sin remain intact and unchanged.

Such is largely the condition of the Church today: there are as many sick and lame within the Church as there are without the Church.

Even though Jesus powerfully taught and demonstrated God's will regarding physical infirmities and instructed His followers to follow suit, the Church, except in rare occasions, shows nothing of God's power on earth today. Granted, many talk about it, but few actually practice it with success - thus securing their ridicule by both the ignorant and confused Church and the world at large.

Will the Church not be judged by its success or failure in bringing ALL God's will as it is in heaven to earth?

If we miss the Bible's clues as to what God's will in heaven is, there is no way we can know, let alone be instruments of, His will on earth.

Father in heaven, open our eyes to see Your will in heaven - as it is revealed in the Bible - so we might boldly and effectively propagate it on earth as our Lord Jesus did.
