Trumpets...

The LORD said to Moses, “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. On the first day of the appointed month in early autumn, you are to observe a day of complete rest. It will be an official day for holy assembly, a day commemorated with loud blasts of a trumpet. [Leviticus 23.23-24]

As the Lord gives me understanding, I suspect these festivals will mean much more to me than they do currently.

Today's OYCB reading presented a lot of information that I feel went right over my head. As I was reading though, I felt distinctly that the festivals have some symbolism of time for us today. And, that's about all I "get" from it right now.

However, the trumpets mentioned in the scripture above made me think about end times and the mention of the trumpets that signal the Lord's return.

A quick Bible search for the word "trumpets" was revealing to say the least. There were 40 of them including the references in the book of Revelation. I was actually surprised ...and intrigued.

Father, help me to be attentive to the deeper meanings of Your Word. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to understand!
