When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron. “Come on,” they said, “make us some gods who can lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.” [Exodus 32.1]
We get in a rush, don't we?
If Israel's experience teaches us anything here, it teaches us that getting impatient with God's direction can be devastating.
And when we speak out of impatience, it is not good.
Perhaps we need to slow down, shut up, and wait.
That's good advice even if I said it.
Father, help me to slow down, shut up, and wait.
