Paul's Confidence

And I have confidence from the Lord that I myself will come to see you soon. [Philippians 2.24]

These were Paul's words. He was in prison at the time.

I am interested in the fact that Paul made this statement because Paul made similar statements at other times.

One instance of Paul showing as much confidence was when he said he would be going to Jerusalem. He indeed went! And, he indeed was incarcerated there just as he knew he would be.

Another instance of Paul making bold statements about his future was on the journey to Rome by ship (after being arrested in Jerusalem). In the midst of a storm bad enough to destroy their ship, Paul declared that he would be going to Rome.

So, I find it intriguing that Paul was declare his confidence to the church at Philippi that would come and see them soon even though he was incarcerated at the time.

Did Paul get out of prison?

Father, I see that Paul had great confidence in Your Spirit prompting him where he would be going. That alone is a great testimony to us today...
