Acts 24-26
Today's entire One Year Chronological Bible reading is all about Paul's progression up the chain of command to share the Good News with the emperor of Rome.
None of this was imagined when Paul and those who knew him were led of the Holy Spirit to know that he would face incarceration if he went to Jerusalem (not Rome). Rome was not even in the picture - as far as Paul was concerned, he was prepared not only to be incarcerated in Jerusalem but to die in Jerusalem. For Paul, Jerusalem seemed like the probable end for him.
But God had a plan. That plan was in Rome and for the Roman leaders to hear the Message of Jesus Christ.
Why didn't the Holy Spirit reveal to Paul and those who prophesied about his incarceration in Jerusalem that Rome was the final destination? We will not likely ever know here on earth, but we can assume that it was for good reason - and that that reason had to do with human pride or hard-heartedness. It likely had everything to do with the fact that humans, left to their own devices and imaginations, are quite capable or screwing things up.
The bottom line is: not every time do Christ followers know everything about every situation! Their's is not the responsibility to know everything, but to obey the Holy Spirit.
Knowing everything about every situation is not my job. That is the job of the Holy Spirit. My job is to obey Him and make my life as habitable to Him as possible. He will make all the decisions, because He knows everything.
Father, it is a relief to understand that I am not required to know everything about everything. Thank You!
