Get It?

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. [Romans 8.1]

What a big statement!

I think we would all do well to understand more of what Romans 8 teaches us. Actually, all of Romans 6-8 is some pretty serious teaching and certainly worthy of our greatest attention.

For many years, I have relied on my understanding of this teaching to comfort myself in times of total disgust with myself over repeated sin. But I don't think Paul is teaching us that we will just keep sinning and still have no condemnation. There seems to be more.

The hard part about this is that, even feeling like there is more to Romans 8 and surrounding contextual chapters, I still feel like I don't "get" that "more." In some ways, it seems like Paul doesn't get that "more" also.

I know this: In Christ, I will find peace. His Holy Spirit has been made available to me to "get it." It is up to me to "get it."

I won't "get it" unless I spend time meditating on it and praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Father, help me "get it."
