Agreement

One afternoon about three o’clock, he [Cornelius] had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. [Acts 10.3a]

He [Peter] saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners. [Acts 10.11]

It is one thing to have a "vision from God." It is quite another to have a "vision from God" that agrees with another person having a "vision from God." But it is still another thing altogether when the Holy Spirit confirms the collaboration.

When Peter justified his actions back in Jerusalem, the combination of both visions in conjunction with the obvious agreement of the Holy Spirit was evidence enough for the Jewish believers to accept that it was a God-thing. As a result, the Gospel was effectively opened to the world.

What we have here is not only a story of great importance in the development of Christianity, but also a pattern by which Christians today can be sure of God's will in a given endeavor.

Agreement is a powerful tool.

“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. [Matthew 18.19 - Jesus]

Father, thank You for this reminder that agreement is foundational in knowing Your will in any given situation.
