“Where is your father?” they asked. Jesus answered, “Since you don’t know who I am, you don’t know who my Father is. If you knew me, you would also know my Father.” [John 8.19]
It is safe to say we only know the Father as much as we know Jesus.
I believe everything we know about the Father is seen in Jesus.
If we see and know Jesus, we see and know the Father. Jesus said it. Likewise, if we think we know the Father, we will recognize Him in Jesus. If we claim to know God, but are not thoroughly familiar with Jesus, then we are mistaken.
And, just as the Father is clearly seen in Jesus, so His will for mankind is clearly seen in Jesus. If we are to please God, it will only be in looking and acting like Jesus. And Jesus only did what He saw the Father first do. If we look and act like Jesus, we look and act like God.
As Jesus said He reveals the Father, we are to reveal the Father in looking and acting like Jesus.
Simple, huh?
Father, I am glad that Jesus is the very image of You. I am thankful that Jesus showed us Your compassion and power. I am thankful that Jesus confirmed You to us and, in so doing, provided us the perfect picture of what our lives are to look like.
