History Repeats Itself

So all Israel was listed in the genealogical records in The Book of the Kings of Israel. The people of Judah were exiled to Babylon because they were unfaithful to the LORD. [1 Chronicles 9.1]

Just say it like it is already. Judah was exiled to Babylon because they were unfaithful to the LORD.

Now, there are no doubt, many perspectives on the story of the people of Judah winding up in Babylon. It could probably be argued at least a dozen different ways that numerous circumstances contributed to Judah's captivity. However, lest God's people throughout history become misled by speculation and assumption, the passage above states it very clearly: the people of Judah were exiled to Babylon because they were unfaithful to the LORD.

The thing is, Judah was warned over and again about betraying their faith in God. We have that recorded in the Bible. There were explicit descriptions written about what would take place if Judah was unfaithful to God.

So, let us be very clear about it as well, Judah's demise was not political. Judah's demise was not about climate. Judah's demise was not about social injustice. Judah's demise was not about education. Judah's demise was not about the economy. Judah's fall occurred because they turned their back on God.

The not-so-funny thing is, history repeats itself. God's people, wherever they are, are required to seek Him first. If they do not, there is no good outcome to look forward to. Hello USA.

The question is not , "Will God forgive us if we repent?" The question is, "will we repent?"

Father, help me as a citizen of the Untied States of America to see and understand the devastation that ultimately lies ahead for this God-fearing-nation-gone-godless. May I be found on record here of repenting for our godlessness - for myself and for my nation. God, please forgive us for turning our backs on You.
