Signs From God

In this way, I will show my greatness and holiness, and I will make myself known to all the nations of the world. Then they will know that I am the LORD. [Ezekiel 38.23]

What way?

In my jealousy and blazing anger, I promise a mighty shaking in the land of Israel on that day. All living things—the fish in the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the people on earth—will quake in terror at my presence. Mountains will be thrown down; cliffs will crumble; walls will fall to the earth. I will summon the sword against you on all the hills of Israel, says the Sovereign LORD. Your men will turn their swords against each other. I will punish you and your armies with disease and bloodshed; I will send torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and burning sulfur! [Ezekiel 38.19-22]

It sounds like confusion. It sounds like earthquakes, disease, and murder. It sounds like storms and fire.

Hey, that sounds a lot like today! Except for one thing - it has not become so bad yet that all the nations of the world know that God is the LORD. And, what that means is that is can get a lot worse.

At some point, people will stop calling natural events "natural events" and start recognizing that God is behind it all - that His warnings about punishment were real - and that there are only two options once it all has kicked into full force: repent or rebel entirely.

Father, help me to look upon natural events as signs from You.
