The LORD gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, “Go down to the potter’s shop, and I will speak to you there.” So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Then the LORD gave me this message: “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand. If I announce that a certain nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed, but then that nation renounces its evil ways, I will not destroy it as I had planned. And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom, but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would. [Jeremiah 18.1-10]
You know, I hear a lot of people say today that judgment (as in end times stuff) is coming and, because the Bible predicted it, there is nothing we can do to stop it.
That is all well and good except that Jeremiah 18.1-10 exists in the Bible too.
God is God and He will do as He wishes. He will forgive those who repent. He knows the genuine heart from the deceived heart.
There is forgiveness for the repentant. That is God's way. Always has been - always will be.
Does evil abound so much in the earth today that no one is repenting? Then, the events prophesied in the Bible are sure to commence. Or, is there a contingency of repentant souls who will delay end times by their intercession?
Father, I want to pray in sincere repentance before You each and every moment of every day. I join myself with others who are engaged in the same. Please forgive us, the Church, The USA, my state, my city, and my family. Forgive me, Father, for my heart constantly tries to deceive me in opposition to what Your Spirit leads me in. May Your Word find fertile soil in my life. May my life bear fruit for Your Kingdom. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
