Sin Couldn't Be The Problem, Could It?

If your people Israel are defeated by their enemies because they have sinned against you... [2 Chronicles 6.24a]

What? Doesn't the successful warfare depend entirely upon which side has the most skilled and well-equipped army?

I suppose it is a good thing that we are so smart these days. We practically have an explanation for everything.

We are sure that a large, well-trained and well-equipped military will keep us safe.

We are sure that meteorological technology will keep us forewarned and safe. So sure, in fact, that we believe we have the capacity to control the weather and climate.

We are sure that every disaster and disease has a logical explanation and that, given enough science and research, we can fight against and maybe even correct or prevent these tragedies.

We are so sure of these things - and so indoctrinated in our assurance of them - that we miss an important factor. We miss the sin factor. 

Frankly, we have ruled the sin-factor as more of 'superstition' than anything. Besides, one cannot, and should not, go against science, right?

The downfall of humanity (aside from just sin itself) is our rampant advancement of technology without a grounded belief in God. Am I suggesting we should be ignorant? No, I am however suggesting that our knowledge should acknowledge the Giver of Knowledge.

But that's just all superstition, isn't it? It is probably all just a coincidence that countless predictions in the Bible have come to pass, right? Is any truly logical and genuinely calculating person willing to take that chance given the overwhelming and ongoing accuracy of the Bible?

If science has all the answers, then why is mankind in more trouble today than ever before? Why are people confused about their identities? Why is crime so prevalent? Why can't nations just get along? Why, with all the advanced technology that is supposed to make our lives better, are we busier and more harried than ever in the history of mankind?

It might just be the unattended matter of sin (I believe that is exactly what it is).

Father, we desperately need You. Forgive me for 'drinking the Kool-Aid' that science and technology (without God) are making my life better. Help me to look at every life circumstance in light of the Bible - Your Word - and deal with it accordingly. I don't want to be so proud as not to repent and remain repentant as a lifestyle!
