God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! [Psalm 53.2-3]
Lest we become conceited in our own 'goodness,' this passage stands as a firm reminder that not a single one of us is good.
Only God is good.
If, only God is good, then we have a constant choice before us: will we repent before our holy God, or arrogantly refuse to repent?
Father, I am finding so much in the Psalms about repentance. I am finding so much in the Psalms about the condition of man - my condition - and my need to repent. Please forgive me for ever becoming proud, stiff-necked, and hard-hearted.
