Pray!

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. [1 Timothy 2.1-4]

This sounds like a good plan to me!

The ultimate goal is that people are saved and understand the truth. How do we get them there? First, we pray for them!

Our prayer is simple: we should ask God to help those we pray for. This is intercession for them. It includes gratitude for them.

Let me point out that "help" is just that, help. Merriam-Webster dictionary's first definition of help is: "to give assistance or support to."

I will also take a moment here to say that giving thanks for someone is enlightening. There is something God does in the 'thank-er' (the one praying) when he or she gives thanks for another. There is a God-perspective given of another person's life when we thank God for them.

Likewise, praying for others - particularly leaders - benefits the one praying with peaceful and quiet life. This peaceful and quiet life is notably Godly and dignified.

The whole point is, when we pray for each other, everyone benefits.

When we pray for each other, salvation and truth abound.

When we pray for each other, we please God.

Pleasing God is good!

Father, help me not lose sight of the eternal value of praying for people!
