Where Is Your Focus?

Jesus responded, “Elijah is indeed coming first to get everything ready. Yet why do the Scriptures say that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be treated with utter contempt? [Mark 9.12]

Like every question ever asked by God or Jesus, the answer was not for God or Jesus but for the realization of those to whom the question was asked.

The disciples had slipped into religious thinking... like kids at Christmas playing with the box while the real gift lay on the floor beside it. The disciples didn't need to be thinking about John the Baptist - they needed to be thinking about Jesus! They needed to be thinking about why Jesus came and lived, and, why He would die. They would come to realize that they would also need to consider why He rose from the dead.

What Jesus was trying to get His guys to see was that He was the One they should focus on!

What are we focused on?

Father, forgive me for getting sidelined with religious questions. Help me to focus on and see Jesus in the fullness of His glory - the glory given to Him by You!
