I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one. [Ezekiel 22.30]
What is interesting about this scripture - this statement from God recorded by the prophet Ezekiel - is that Ezekiel evidently wasn't the guy.
To me, this is kind of like the reporter, the only other person present, reporting on a child being torn part by dogs while it is happening and doing nothing.
Why did not Ezekiel say, "Here am I, Lord! I will teach them the way of righteousness - I will pray for these people!
I just find it interesting...
Father, help me avoid being "the bystander." I want to be engaged in Your Kingdom work on the earth - in my city - in my neighborhood.
