Why, God?

And you have brought this upon yourselves by rebelling against the LORD your God, even though he was leading you on the way! [Jeremiah 2.17]

"Why, God?"

How many of us ask this question?

Anything that qualifies as a curse (Deuteronomy 28) that happens in our lives is for one reason: disobedience. Persecution and trials for being a follower of God is a different thing altogether. Sickness, disease, suffering, loss and poverty are all part of the curse for disobedience.

Until we settle these truths in our minds, our natural reaction to such events will always be the same: "Why, God?"

Father, help me to lose my pride and accept the truth of Your Word. Help me to repent as needed. Help me simplify my devotion to a pure and undivided fear of You and You alone.
