LORD, you poured out blessings on your land! You restored the fortunes of Israel. You forgave the guilt of your people—yes, you covered all their sins. [Psalm 85.1-2]
Blessings and forgiveness are directly related.
Curses and disobedience are directly related.
There is no co-mingling of blessings with disobedience and there is no co-mingling of curses with forgiveness. Never are blessings bestowed upon disobedience. Never are curses bestowed upon obedience (including the 'condition of obedience' provided through forgiveness).
Curses are reserved for disobedience.
Blessings are reserved for obedience.
Forgiveness is restoration to the 'condition of obedience' to one who has been disobedient.
There are two factors to forgiveness: repentance and faith. Although forgiveness is offered to all, it's benefit is only transacted and therefore enjoyed by the repentant. Faith is the only medium in which the fulfillment of that transaction is validated. The just shall live by faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
We need clear thinking on this matter of blessings and curses.
Father help us to think clearly in regard to blessings and curses. Help us to see there is no marriage between the two because You are One, You are Holy, and You are Just - Your promises are true and there is no variation in You.
