We Need To Repent

1 Kings 8.22-53, 2 Chronicles 6:12-42

In both of these records of Solomon's prayer at the dedication of the Temple he built for God, we find some interesting information about how and why things work the way they do.

First, Solomon acknowledges God as Supreme. There is no question about the position of God in the universe from Solomon's description.

Next, there is no misunderstanding portrayed about God keeping His Word and His promises.

Further still, Solomon describes all sorts of suffering (defeat by enemies, drought, famine and pestilences, disasters and diseases) as all being resultant to sin and, indicates that repentance in prayer IS THE SOLUTION.

Now... why don't we see these terrible occurrences in the same way? Why instead do we think God uses these things to improve us in some way? Why do we ignore the obvious implications to repent?

We need to repent.

Father, I don't want to be found proud and unrepentant! Forgive me for pride and hard- heartedness against trusting in You alone!
