Then David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly: “O LORD, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever! Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. [1 Chronicles 29.10-12]
David knew two things: he knew how to praise God and he knew how to pray.
The passage from 1 Chronicles above proves both of these claims.
I see clearly that David had great confidence in God and declared as much.
I see that David acknowledged that it was God from Whom all good things come.
Did David's confidence in God come from his praise or did his praise come from his confidence in God? Or better yet, what difference does it make?
Should we not have confidence in God - and will not that confidence result in praise?
Likewise, should we not praise God - and will not that praise result in confidence?
If we know nothing of David but this, we have sufficient evidence to understand why David was called a man after God's own heart - even with all his shortcomings.
David had confidence in God and David praised God.
David praised God and David had confidence in God.
The tow go together!
Father, You are my everything! Every good and perfect gift comes from You. You are our life and our strength. You are good and Your perfect love endures forever!
