Really Knowing God

But Samuel replied, “Why ask me, since the LORD has left you and has become your enemy? [1 Samuel 28.16]

Here is proof that Saul just didn't get it. He obviously had no real relationship with God or he would have known that Samuel could not help him.

I genuinely believe that Christians today, myself included, struggle more with this problem than anything else. Our actions, like Saul's, prove that we don't really get it...

I am basing my statements here on the facts that we depend on insurance, doctors, medicine, and the world's economics systems (debt mostly). Oh, we are smart enough to 'say' we trust God to work in and through these things. But, when times get tough, I believe the record will show that we turn to these things  most of the times without as much as a prayer to God!

I know what i am saying here causes offense. It should. We should be ashamed to call the LORD our God and then depend on other things for the very provisions God has promised!

It is no wonder the world makes such a mockery of Christians. We say we believe in God and still suffer every worldly thing the world suffers with no more remedy than what the world has.

And, in the church, the very place where we should be repenting of our faithlessness, we find teachings that our 'looking like the world' (and not looking like those set apart by God), is somehow God's doing! SHAME!

Even supposed "Full Gospel" churches 'make their claims' until faced with overwhelming circumstances at which point they reluctantly concede that "God is in control" as if their suffering is from Him.

Why do we do this? For the same reason Saul went to Samuel! We don't truly know God!

Father, please forgive me for not knowing You as You desire for me to. Help me to 'get it' and move into a relationship with You that really sets me apart from the world (that the world can see).

Amen brother, we need to step up and step out with GOD and not the world we so depend on. Our faith and reliance are truly misplaced in our world, we need to find GOD in all things and all areas of our lives, not before other things but completely instead of others things and people. GOD Bless ya brother for giving us cause to think on GOD even more.
