Whose Side Am I On?

All murderers must be put to death, but only if evidence is presented by more than one witness. No one may be put to death on the testimony of only one witness. [Numbers 35.30]

I was just thinking about the meaning of this today.

At first, this verse seems straightforward enough, ...and fair enough.

However, as I considered the "bigger picture" further, it occurred to me that Satan stands before God constantly accusing people. At least, he did. His role was to evidently patrol the earth and report offenders of God's law thus directing due punishment for the offense.

I may be on a wild-goose-chase here, but it also occurs to me that without collaboration, the single witness of Satan would not be enough to convict offenders of God's law. That might explain why he would incite other people to accuse offenders along with him.

It makes me wonder about my words - the things I say about people. Am I joining with Satan in accusing them thus justifying due punishment?

I know this is deep and I know the implications are insanely vast, but it seems prudent today to at least consider what I say about others.

Wouldn't it be better to join with the words of Jesus, "Neither do I condemn you..." that life might be given instead of death?

This is a much more in-depth subject than I feel even remotely qualified to discuss with any authority, however, I do hope to remain mindful of it and allow the Holy Spirit to bring clarity.

Whose side am I on?

Father, I want to be found on Your side. I don't want to join in the accusations and judgments that put me in company with Satan.
