Then Joshua asked them, “How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has given to you? [Joshua 18.3]
Whether or not it was meant to speak anything besides the obvious context of the verse or not, this verse spoke to me today.
Jesus paid it all.
As I consider all that Jesus paid for on my behalf and on behalf of the world (anyone who believes), I realize that there is much that has yet to be taken possession of.
Even if we excluded everything in Deuteronomy 28 - every blessing received and every curse removed - should we not, at very least, be experiencing His peace? Should we, as believers not possess the peace Jesus came to give?
Yes, we should. And, because Jesus' work on our behalf is complete (lacking nothing), we should also take possession of every blessing for obedience described in Deuteronomy 28 and reject every curse for disobedience. We should do this because Jesus paid for it all. There simply is no need for us to pay for disobedience again (curses) because Jesus took them all upon Himself (Galatians 3.13). The transaction is complete - a done deal - history.
Our only role is the obedience of faith - a complete surrender of our lives to His. His blood paid the price for our disobedience and purchased for us every blessing for obedience.
Jesus paid it all.
How long are we going to wait before taking possession of all Jesus has given us?
Father, I am taking this question above personal today. I want to actively participate in receiving every blessing Jesus paid for and rejecting every curse He Himself bore on my behalf.
