Numbers 2-3
There were 603,550 men (not including Levites) making up Israel.
These 603,550 were men twenty years or older (no young boys included).
There were 22,273 firstborn sons one month or older (which would include adult men too).
I really don't know what this all means except that the ratio of firstborn sons seems low?
It would be very interesting to know how many of the 22,273 firstborns were adult and how many were children. I suppose it could make sense that half the number could be adults and half children (every child would have a father most likely, right?). But, just because a father has a firstborn son does not mean the father is a firstborn son himself. We can know however that every father can have only one firstborn son!
I don't know if there is any other place in the Bible that further defines these numbers, but I will be paying particular attention.
Father, I don't know why, but it seems to me that if You saw fit to include these numbers in the Bible, they must have some significance. Help me to see past where I have seen before in just seeing the numbers and help me see the meaning.
