Are We Sleeping?

Then he returned and found the disciples asleep. He said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” Then Jesus left them again and prayed the same prayer as before. When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open. And they didn’t know what to say. [Mark 14.37-40]

Are we sleeping?

Are we sleeping today when we should be watching and praying?

With all the Jesus had been telling His disciples up to this point, how could they sleep?

And yet... they slept.

I wonder about all that is going on in the world and particularly the USA at this time and I question myself and everyone, "Are we sleeping?" Should we not be watching intently and praying fervently?

My message here is not to condemn, but to call to action! Will we not pray with all our might for our country? Or will we simply go about our lives as if nothing is really concerning us?

Are we sleeping?

Father, forgive me for sleeping when I should be praying!
