We Have Some Demonstrating To Do

The LORD is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The LORD is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. All of your works will thank you, LORD, and your faithful followers will praise you. They will speak of the glory of your kingdom; they will give examples of your power. They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign. For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. [Psalm 145.8-13]

The word 'kingdom' came up again today. So, naturally, I my interest was piqued.

The text today is clear that God's followers will praise Him. Furthermore, they will speak of His Kingdom. But what comes next is interesting: they will give examples of His power. They will tell about His mighty deeds and His glorious and majestic reign.

We should think through this a moment. Jesus spoke of God's Kingdom. Jesus was a faithful follower of God. Jesus not only gave examples of, but demonstrated God's power. Jesus constantly told about God's reign over His Kingdom.

So what we have here is an Old Testament 'look' into New Testament times. Jesus completely fulfilled what was predicted in Psalm 145.8-13.

But Jesus is not the end of it...

Now, what are we to do with the fact that Jesus Himself declared that our mission and ministry on earth is exactly the same as His?

Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. [John 17.18]

We have some demonstrating to do!

Father, every day, I am becoming more sure of my purpose and mission on earth. In fact, it is not 'my' purpose and mission on earth, but it is Your's! Jesus showed me (us) the way. Jesus showed us the Kingdom.
