The next day as Cornelius’s messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon, and he was hungry. But while a meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners. In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds. Then a voice said to him, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.” [Acts 10.9-13]
You know, we really should pay attention to our weird dreams.
How many times when we have a strange dream do we explain it by the spicey food we ate, or that we were super exhausted, or that we were sick, or ...that we were hungry?
Hunger was exactly the case in Peter's situation. And, the dream or "trance" he fell into was indeed odd. However, this messed up event, probably due to Peter's hunger, was the beginning of salvation coming to all men (not just to Jews).
So, regardless of 'what I ate last night' it might be prudent to at least pay attention to whatever weird dream I had as a result!
Father, I want to be attentive to any way Your Spirit speaks to me.
