From His Abundance

From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. [John 1.16-18]

Can the blessings of God be defined?

Well, we know His blessings come from His abundance. While His abundance is found everywhere, nowhere more clearly reveals it than His dwelling, heaven.

But then, from heaven, God sent His Ambassador, His Son, to reveal Himself and all His abundance to us, and that is precisely what Jesus did. Jesus brought Truth and miracles - resources of God that He intended then, and intends now, to bestow upon all those who will receive them.

From the book of Revelation, we are clearly told that the following resources belong to God (and the Lamb, Jesus): salvation, blessing, honor, glory, power, wisdom, strength, riches, and thanksgiving. I believe there is much more to God's abundance than what is defined here, but this list is quite encompassing in itself. And, Jesus revealed everything in this list. And, what the Father gave Jesus, He gave to us - including "family" status.

There is nothing more we could ask for - unless of course, we have yet to accept and receive that which has already been given.

Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank You for revealing Yourself so magnificently in the life and person of Your Son!
