But a beautiful cedar palace does not make a great king! Your father, Josiah, also had plenty to eat and drink. But he was just and right in all his dealings. That is why God blessed him. He gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him. Isn’t that what it means to know me?” says the LORD. [Jeremiah 22.15-16]
What does it mean to know the LORD?
For starters, to know the LORD means to be just and right in all dealings. And, what that means is to give justice and help to the poor and needy.
Likewise, to know the LORD seems to be signified by having plenty to eat and drink and to be blessed by God. Jeremiah also indicates that knowing the LORD is obvious in that everything goes well.
I am not making this up - it is straight from Jeremiah's writing above.
Father, help us to know You from Your Word and not our own assumptions!
