“Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. [Habakkuk 2.4]
I've never really thought of arrogance and pride as a contrast to faithfulness to God. But I guess it really does make sense. Trusting in myself is indeed prideful and trusting in God is indeed faithful.
Faith and faithfulness are closely related. One cannot remain faithful to something or someone they do not ultimately believe in (have faith in). In other words, you will see what I genuinely believe in by what I am faithful to.
Uh-oh.
So, no matter what we say we believe in, what we are faithful to is, in reality, what we believe in. If we say we believe in God, and yet are unfaithful to His Word, His will, and prayer then, we are only kidding ourselves.
What is faith if it is not found in faithfulness?

Father, help me to review my own life and what I am faithful to. Let it be that my faithfulness is found in You and not in myself.
