Me First!

Then he added, “Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Then go to your people in exile and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says!’ Do this whether they listen to you or not.” [Ezekiel 3.10-11]

It just occurred to me that unless God's Word first touches us, we may have difficulty in convincing others of its validity.

On another thought, if we are not first touched by God's Word ourselves, how will we ever remain faithful when those we declare it to reject it?

Simply put, we cannot expect to be useful servants of God and His Word if we have not first become true students of God and His Word. There is no substitute for genuinely knowing God and His Word.

The only thing I can recall that the Word teaches us to put ourselves first in is to learn God's Word.

Father help us to understand the importance of seeking first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness.
