God's Longsuffering Is Not Infinite

So this is what the Lord says to his people: “You love to wander far from me and do not restrain yourselves. Therefore, I will no longer accept you as my people. Now I will remember all your wickedness and will punish you for your sins.” [Jeremiah 14.10]

As a character trait of God, we see over and over that He is patient and kind and longsuffering. However, we also see (as in the verse above) that His longsuffering is not infinite. Regardless of how much God loves, He will not forever ignore justice.

Do we dare think that God will allow such a blatant disregard for Jesus to continue in our day?

Father, help us to understand justice as well as mercy and love. Help us to understand that a "final straw" is coming and that the earth, as we know it, will give way to Your continuing plan for the redemption of Your own and Your rejection of those who are not.
