No Small Task

“From the least to the greatest, their lives are ruled by greed. From prophets to priests, they are all frauds. They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace. [Jeremiah 6.13-14]

Leadership is no small task.

When leaders fall into greed and self-seeking, everything they do becomes a facade about themselves. Their facade may have the appearance of service to the people, but it is in fact hiding an interior of self-serving greed. They are, in fact, wolves in sheeps' clothing.

As I consider my own devotion and commitment to God, I must ask myself if I am indeed genuine or just serving myself. The difference may be seen in whether I simply offer a superficial treatment or a real solution to the problem of sin and faithlessness I see all around me.

Father, help me to be real and genuine in my devotion to You - including how I address those all around me.
